“Server” is the computer that provides online services.
Computers can be divided into two categories. One category is designed for individuals, while the other is designed for companies that provide online services. What are online services? I think the answer to that question depends on the companies. For example, an Internet retailer provides a service by selling products online, whereas Facebook provides social network services.
To provide online services, computers known as “servers” are used. The performance of servers is far superior to that of PCs, so they are commonly used in science and technology fields that require complex calculations and the analysis of huge amounts of big data, by large online retailers accessed by numerous people, and so on.
Servers with high computational speed are known as supercomputers. Just like how Superman surpasses ordinary people, supercomputers surpass the capabilities of desktop computers. When compared with PCs, supercomputers work hundreds to thousands of times faster.

Let me give you an example of a server providing email services. An email server is a computer that acts like a post office. Basically, the computer is used to send and receive emails. Just like the post office, the email server checks each email’s address and then delivers it to the intended recipient.
As many people want to use the service, high-speed computers must be used. Let’s think about the post office. If the post office has a lot of clients, it will likely try to get things done faster by increasing the number of employees. The same goes for email servers. If the number of users accessing the servers increases, the companies use additional servers to handle their requests quickly.
The term “device specifications” refers to information concerning different computer parts, such as the central processing unit (CPU), memory, and hard disk. The following table provides examples of possible device specifications.

A computer’s performance is affected by its hardware, including its CPU, memory, disk, graphics card, and so on. In other words, high-end computers exhibit better performance. For three-dimensional (3D) gaming, we need higher-end computers rather than word processors. This is because displaying many images on the monitor at a high speed takes a lot of work.
